Why We Started Dunwoody Deck Builders

Too many homeowners around the Perimeter have a story about a deck contractor who disappeared mid-job, quoted one number and invoiced another, or skipped the permit and left the homeowner holding the risk at resale. Dunwoody Deck Builders exists because that shouldn't be the standard. We're a Dunwoody-based crew focused on one thing: building decks, screened porches, and pergolas that are permitted correctly, priced honestly, and built to actually survive a Georgia summer.

We won't pretend to be a decades-old institution — we're not, and we'd rather tell you that upfront than dress up the site with numbers we can't back. What we can promise is a real person who answers the phone, a written estimate that doesn't change after the fact, and a crew that treats your yard like it's the last job of the day, not the fifth.

Decks in Dunwoody and throughout DeKalb County almost always need a permit, and anything attached to the house or elevated more than a step typically needs engineered plans that satisfy Georgia's building code. We handle the drawings, the permit application, and every inspection along the way — that part of the process is entirely on us, not something you have to chase down.

We also pay close attention to details that matter more here than almost anywhere else in the country: hardware sized for humid, hot summers and the occasional ice storm, footing depths that account for Georgia's red clay soil and the drainage issues it can cause, and board spacing that keeps airflow moving so joists don't stay damp after a July thunderstorm.

Our home base is Dunwoody, and that's where most of our current projects are — from the shops and sidewalks around Dunwoody Village to the quieter streets near Brook Run Park and Georgetown.
